Mr. Giorgi Mikeladze, Counsellor and Legal Adviser of the Permanent Mission of Georgia, in his capacity of co-coordinator of the draft resolution on “Crimes Against Humanity”, on behalf of the Bureau of the Sixth Committee of the General Assembly of the United Nations during its 75th session, has introduced for the adoption to the committee the draft resolution

On November 19, 2020 Mr. Giorgi Mikeladze, Counsellor and Legal Adviser of the Permanent Mission of Georgia, in his capacity of co-coordinator of the draft resolution on “Crimes Against Humanity”, on behalf of the Bureau of the Sixth Committee of the General Assembly of the United Nations during its 75th session, has introduced for the adoption to the committee the draft resolution (A/C.6/75/L.20).
The resolution adopted by consensus reflects the recommendations of International Law Commission to the General Assembly on the Draft Articles prevention and punishment of crimes against humanity, adopted on second reading of ILC at its seventy-first session.
Mr. Giorgi Mikeladze has expressed his gratitude to all delegations for their active engagement throughout the consultations and thanked the Secretariat of the committee for the invaluable support rendered during the negotiations on the matter.
He noted that It was apparent, on the basis of the observations made by delegations across the spectrum, that there is a strong appetite among delegations for a more in-depth exchange in future on the substance of the draft articles.
