During his speech, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Georgia to the United Nations, David Abesadze, thanked the President of the United Nations Human Rights Council for his presentation of the annual report.
He underlined that Georgia, as a dedicated member of the United Nations Human Rights Council, reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the protection and promotion of human rights and to making an active contribution to the Council’s work.
Among other issues, he spoke about the resolution on “Cooperation with Georgia”, adopted by consensus for the first time at the Human Rights Council’s recent 60th session, and expressed appreciation to all its supporters and co-sponsors.
During his speech, David Abesadze underlined that Russia continues the illegal occupation of Georgia’s Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, in flagrant violation of international law.
He concluded by reiterating Georgia’s steadfast commitment to advancing the promotion and protection of human rights, both nationally and internationally.
