Georgian delegate highlighted the second National Human Rights Strategy for 2022-2030, approved by the Government of Georgia, which aims at strengthening the state mechanisms for the promotion of the rights of women.
In the statement, Ekaterine Lortkipanidze highlighted the significant importance that the Government of Georgia attaches to the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolutions on Women, Peace and Security, including ensuring meaningful engagement of women in the peace process.
It was underlined that unfortunately, women and girls living in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions of Georgia are affected by various human rights violations due to the Russia’s ongoing occupation of these regions, as the Government of Georgia is deprived of the possibility to implement the above-mentioned policies and measures for the protection of women therein.
